Jenny and Christina's Baptism Day

Hello family!!!!

I hope you all had a great Easter.  It was interesting to read the letter that I had sent last Easter.  It’s amazing to think of how much time has passed in a year.  A year ago, I was still in Valparaíso.  Mom, you will be sad to hear that here in Viña they don’t burn up any piñata Judases in the street—haha.  I guess that’s only in the poorer sections of  Chile.

Guess what…today I SAW JUAN CARLOS!!!  I don’t know if you all remember Marta and Juan.  I always talked about them in the beginning of the mission, and today I saw him in Viña!  He was passing by the office looking for a job—haha.  So I had an awesome conversation with him.  It looks like Marta went to live with her brother and is being baptized now in the South.  Juan still goes to church but he still hasn’t been baptized—he’s so hard headed—haha.  It was so good to see him.  It was also great to hear from all of you again.  Sounds like Easter night at the house was amazing.  I really miss Joel, the Jensens, and large Easter dinners.  We didn’t eat dinner.  I laughed as well about Taryn and the spoon trick… oh Taryn—haha.

This weekend was pretty intense, yet interesting.  So much happened this week.  Elder Urbina finished his mission.  Last night he signed my journal and gave me his direction.  I almost cried.  It’s amazing how much we’ve gone through together in just three months.  We’ve laughed so much—and sweat, ran, fought, talked, cried together, baptized, found, worked, and so much more.  There’s so much that I can’t fit in this weekly letters that has become a part of me.  I feel like a part of me is leaving.  I do feel really weird though because I officially have no more senior companions in the mission.  Elder Urbina and Elder Suazo are both leaving.  I will only have my junior comps now in the mission, and this change I will be completing a year and a half in the mission.  How crazy is that?

Elder Urbina finished his mission well.  Yesterday was his very last day as a full time missionary and we had two baptisms!  One of the priests of the ward baptized Jenny and Christina yesterday.  It was so good to see their baptism after so much dedication and hard work with them.  I love seeing how they matured in the gospel.

It looks like I will be training a new zone leader!  Elder Prince will be my new companion.  He has more time than I do in the mission but it will be his first time as zone leader.  I’m really excited.  I met him once when I went to a leadership capacitation in La Sarena.  He’s an amazing missionary.  He’s from California and I’m absolutely stoked for this coming change.  It will be the first time I haven’t had a Latin comp since I trained Elder Lloyd in Coquimbo—haha.  Speaking English will be a little strange, but oh well.  About half of our zone is leaving as well, it will be a little sad because I’ve gotten pretty close to a lot of the missionaries here in Viña, but that’s how the mission goes.

Well tomorrow should be an interesting day.  Elder Prince and I are going to help coordinate the changes of the entire mission—good times.  I love this gospel and I know that it’s true.  There’s no room for doubts.  I love the mission with my whole heart.  I can’t think of anything better in the world to be doing right now. I love you all.

Until next week,
Elder Teeples
